A Segensworth businessman will step out of the boardroom and onto the stage in May for a children’s charity gig.

Frank Dixie, managing director of worldwide logistics company PSP, will perform with his 10-piece live band, Harry Hammersmith and the Flyovers to raise money for children and young people with life-limiting illnesses.

A business man by day, Mr Dixie is at the helm of a firm with a multi-million pound turnover that sponsors the PSP Southampton Boat Show and the front man of the live soul band in his spare time.

Money raised from the gig at The Station pub in Bitterne on May 9 will be given to Naomi House Children’s Hospice.

Mr Dixie said: “Naomi House is an amazing local charity that really touches our hearts here at PSP. We know that it needs to raise £7m every year so that it can carry on providing vital support to young people and their families across the South.

“This is why we’ve chosen it as our charity for the PSP Southampton Boat Show in the past and why we continue to raise money for it today.”

Harry Hammersmith and the Flyovers will perform covers of popular soul songs, from artists such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Adele and Cee-Lo Green.

Other members of staff from PSP feature in the line up of guitarists, brass players, singers, drummers and pianists. They include marketing and PR manager Jo Dixie and logistics driver Graham Lacey.

Entry to the gig, which starts at 9pm, is free, but PSP urges donations of £3.
